The things most dieting women say or think

If I could just fit into those jeans
When I lose weight I am going to…
I would feel more confident if I was 20 pounds thinner
I would be so self conscious if I was thin
Life would be easier if I was thinner
If I was only a size 4/6

Things you don’t hear any of us say…

I can’t wait to be healthy
I am impressed with what my body can do
I will hopefully live longer if I am at a healthier weight
I am excited for all the energy I will be gaining while losing
I will no longer be any kind of statistic
Leading by example, with great benefits


This list is what I have heard from others that are dieting or have just starting exercising more and are enjoying the benefits of it. The points is most of us girls, myself include have a negative self image when it comes to our bodies and are not always concerned with the long term benefits- just how good we will look as an end result. Truly, that is a big added bonus, however, knowing that you are adding years (hopefully) to your life, lowering your risk of diabetes, high cholesterol and certain cancers should be first our on minds. I have been told that if one just focuses on the vanity part of losing weight, the positive end result is lost. Hmmm

I was also told: If you wait to be motivated, you will be waiting along time. You create your own motivation, you make it happen…Who knew?
